Our Foundation/Grade One and Two students create and display artworks. They are becoming aware of whom artists, craftspeople and designers are, and how and why they express their ideas through different art forms and visual expressions. Our students identify art forms in different social, historical and cultural contexts. The children often submit their artworks to community displays, events and exhibitions and they experience first-hand the role of artist and audience in their visual arts making. Our students learn the seven elements of art; line, shape, colour, texture, value, space and form. They also learn to enhance their artworks using the principles of art. Students love using recyclable materials at our school and creating artworks for our buildings and grounds. All of the Art lessons incorporate the teaching and learning of relevant Auslan signs to further enhance student’s communication and fine-motor skills.
