Our students create and display artworks. They are becoming aware of whom artists, craftspeople and designers are, and how and why they express their ideas through different art forms and visual expressions. Our students identify art forms in different social, historical and cultural contexts. The children often submit their artworks to community displays, events and exhibitions and they experience first-hand the role of artist and audience in their visual arts making. Our students learn the seven elements of art; line, shape, colour, texture, value, space and form. They also learn to enhance their artworks using the principles of art. Students love using recyclable materials at our school and creating artworks for our buildings and grounds. All of the Art lessons incorporate the teaching and learning of relevant Auslan signs to further enhance student’s communication and fine-motor skills.
Performing Arts
In Performing Arts students get to explore and express their creative sides through Music, Dance and Drama! Each term brings something new and exciting. In looking at story telling through performance, students engage with puppetry, poetry, performance skills and short films, with some classes even creating their own circuses! Students learn about the technical skills of dance, how we move our body to represent feelings or tell stories, and sometimes even just to entertain an audience. Collaboratively, students work together to create and rehearse choreography to perform to an audience. In Music, students are provided the opportunity to play a variety of instruments- from traditional instruments like guitars and maracas, to the weird and wonderful such as spoons and squeeze bells. There is always fun to be had in Performing Arts.
